Enrollment

Required Paperwork All enrollment paperwork must be submitted before a child’s first day of care. Paperwork may be turned in ahead of time or on the morning of their start date. Required documents include:

  • Enrollment Forms

  • Provider/Parent Agreement

  • Proof of Vaccinations (not required for school‑age children, as their school maintains these records)

Payment Requirements Payment for at least two weeks of childcare is due on the child’s first day.

Two‑Week Trial Period The first two weeks of care serve as a trial period for both the family and the provider.

  • If a parent decides the childcare arrangement is not a good fit, they may unenroll, and payment for unused days will be refunded.

  • The provider also reserves the right to terminate care during this trial period if the child is not adjusting well.

Priority for Available Slots Children whose paperwork has been fully submitted will be given priority when filling open enrollment slots.

Holding a Future Spot If a family wishes to reserve a spot more than two weeks before the intended start date, a non‑refundable $100 deposit is required. This deposit will be credited to the first invoice once the child begins care.

 

Attendance

Your child’s spot is held just for them, and I plan my day—including meals—around who will be here. If your child will be out, please text or call 541‑420‑3345 before 8:30 AM so I don’t prepare breakfast unnecessarily.

Absences still require payment for that day. I’m only allowed to care for a certain number of children, and steady income is essential for keeping my childcare program running.

If your child will be late, a quick message is always appreciated.

Payments

You must pay on or before your due date. I strongly prefer electronic payments, and I currently accept Zelle and Venmo.

If you cannot use electronic payments, I will accept cash. Please do not pay with checks.

ERDC Clients: Your co‑pay is due on the first of each month.

Parent Communication

Monthly Communication & Scheduling I send home a monthly calendar that includes all early closures and full‑day closures so you can plan ahead with confidence. If I ever need to discuss an ongoing concern, I will schedule a private appointment with you — either in person or by phone — to ensure we have the time and space to talk things through.

Daily Communication For anything routine or quick, feel free to communicate with me at drop‑off or pick‑up. I value open communication and believe it’s essential for providing the best care for your child. When communication breaks down or a parent is consistently unresponsive, that may become grounds for termination of care.

Monthly Newsletter Funshine Express also provides a fun monthly newsletter that highlights what we’ll be learning, exploring, and creating throughout the month. It’s a great way to stay connected to your child’s day‑to‑day experiences.

Personal Hygiene 

All children should arrive dressed and ready for the day. Please provide an extra outfit in case of spills, accidents, or other situations that may require a change of clothes.

For children who are not yet potty trained, please bring diapers and wipes. If your child is showing interest in potty training, I’m happy to work with you to support that process. I do not force a child to use the potty before they are ready; in my experience, children are most successful when they lead the process themselves. I will provide guidance on how to wipe appropriately as they learn.

Illness

A quick reminder: sick kiddos need to stay home. They must be fever‑free for a full 24 hours before coming back. If you’re on the fence about whether they should come, just call or text me and I’ll help you decide.

Vaccinations

All children are required by the State of Oregon to be up to date on their vaccinations. Families must provide current immunization records as part of enrollment.

The only exception is if a parent or guardian obtains an official exemption through the Health Department. This process must be completed directly with them, and once approved, the exemption documentation must be provided to me before the child can attend.

 

Rest Time

All children ages 5 and under participate in a daily rest period from 12:30–2:00 PM. I provide comfortable rest supplies, including sleeping bags, mats, blankets, and pillows. A Pack ’n Play is available for infants and younger toddlers who need a secure sleep space.

To protect everyone’s rest time, I do not allow drop‑offs or pick‑ups between 12:30 and 2:00 PM, unless there is an emergency. All children (except babies) sleep in the living room, and unexpected arrivals or departures wake them easily.

If your child has doctor or dentist appointments, please schedule them in the morning or late afternoon whenever possible to avoid disrupting the group’s rest.

Thank you for helping maintain a peaceful and consistent routine for all the children.

 

Screentime

As per childcare regulations, pre-school screentime is limited to less than 5 hours per week and is limited to developmentally appropriate programming for children. School-age children are limited to 10 hours per week.

Outside Play

We strive to get outside every day.  The only thing that would prohibit that is bad weather or it being extremely hot or cold.  Also, we will stay inside should the air quality not be safe.

Toys Brought from Home

I am not responsible for any toys brought from home. Please remember that items can get misplaced during the day, and when my shift ends, I’m tired and unable to search for lost toys. If I happen to find something while cleaning on the weekend, I will place it in your child’s cubby.

To avoid stress for everyone, please do not send anything valuable—either sentimental or monetary.

For safety reasons, toys that can fit inside a toilet paper roll are not allowed, as some children are still exploring with their mouths.

Special blankets for naptime are welcome if your child uses one at home.

Early Learning with Ms. Becky

I provide fun, hands-on, developmentally appropriate learning activities for children ages 2 and up, or earlier whenever they show interest. My approach is flexible — I adapt every activity to your child’s age, abilities, and unique interests so learning always feels natural and joyful.

From September through May, I use the Lillio Learning curriculum (aka: FunShine Express), a research‑based program aligned with early childhood learning standards across the U.S. It supports growth in:

  • Language & Literacy

  • Social–Emotional development

  • Physical & Health skills

  • Math, Science, and Creative Arts

  • Problem‑solving, curiosity, and confidence

Each month features engaging themes such as My Friends & Me, Forest Adventure, Polar Pals, Springtime Sparkles, Pet Friends, and more. Meet Molly!

Molly came to me from Brightside after I saw her on their Facebook page and absolutely had to go adopt her. She had been there for over a year, mostly because she gets a little too excited when people come to visit — and yes, she still does! For safety during arrivals and departures, Molly hangs out in my bedroom until everyone is settled. Once she comes out, she greets each kiddo with a sniff and then heads straight to her dog bed in the window.

If you ever wonder why my windows are smudged, it’s because that spot is her official “mailman lookout.” She takes her job very seriously and believes the mailman, UPS driver, and FedEx driver all need enthusiastic barking to feel appreciated.

Other than those two quirks, Molly is a genuinely wonderful dog. She loves children and often curls up next to them during nap time. She gets excited when she sees coats going on because she knows it means outdoor playtime. She’s a mixed breed, fully grown, and just the right size for a childcare environment.

On the day she was introduced to the childcare environment, she played tetherball with the kids — hitting the ball with her nose! The children laughed so hard I’m pretty sure the neighbors heard them.

I also use Molly to teach the children about gentle, appropriate touching and respectful interactions with animals. She’s patient, sweet, and everyone gets along beautifully.
