A journey rooted in passion
My journey in early childhood education began in 1988, long before Becky's Family Child Care officially started. It was a natural progression from being a stay-at-home mom to watching my sister-in-law's children, and soon, by word of mouth, my home became a hub for little ones. I was licensed in 1993, even before it was a state requirement, driven by a lifelong love for children. Babies have always captivated me, and I adore watching their incredible developmental changes as they grow. Kids truly make me laugh every single day, and there's nothing more rewarding than witnessing their learning and development firsthand.

Love, Safety, and Joyful Learning
My greatest wish for every child in my care is for them to feel profoundly loved and absolutely safe. These are the foundations upon which all learning flourishes. Beyond that, I want them to acquire essential social skills that will prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. Not every childcare provider possesses this unique ability, but I do! I am committed to creating an environment where learning is not just educational but also incredibly fun. We believe that happy children are open to learning, and we strive to make every day a joyful experience.

Becky's daughter and substitute provider.
Becky is a proud mother of three adult children and grandmother to seven lively grandchildren — one girl and six energetic boys. When they all gather at Grandma’s house, the scene is wonderfully chaotic, full of noise, laughter, and love. She wouldn’t have it any other way.
Throughout her life, Becky has worn many hats in service to children, families, and her community. She has been a 4‑H swine leader, President of the Crook County Childcare Providers group, a member of the Oregon Family Childcare Network Board, and an active participant in AFSCME, Oregon’s childcare union. She also served as a paid mentor through Portland State University, supporting childcare providers and early childhood educators across the state.
Her passion for early childhood work is matched only by her dedication to PFLAG. For more than 20 years — first in Bend and now in Prineville — Becky has been deeply involved in this organization that provides support, education, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ individuals, their families, and loved ones. She currently serves as President of her local chapter, continuing her commitment to creating safer, more inclusive communities.
Dani Hanson is a devoted mother to three boys and a graduate of Oregon State University, where she earned her degree in Interior Design. She worked in the design industry for several years before choosing to become a stay‑at‑home mom to her blended family: Cason, Luke, and baby Jack. Dani and her husband, Corey — a realtor — live in Bend, Oregon.
Because Becky is a cancer survivor who attends frequent medical appointments for ongoing monitoring, Dani completed specialized training through Western Oregon University to become an approved substitute caregiver. This allows her to step in during Becky’s appointments, saving Becky from taking full days off. WOU even compensates Dani for these hours each month, making the program a valuable resource for childcare providers and families alike.
Dani’s willingness to support Becky through this program reflects her reliability, compassion, and commitment to helping others. It’s a partnership that brings peace of mind, flexibility, and genuine gratitude.
